This blog is translated to English from an original Chinese article from Mrs. Shurong Huang, a senior in CCACC Adult Day Healthcare Center.
We have an old Chinese saying - Food is the first necessity of the people. Just like that, how to provide every senior in CCACC Adult Day Healthcare Center of the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center with delicious, nutritious, and healthy food is the top priority for every staff in the center.
In April 2021, CCACC Adult Day Healthcare Center ended its long history of ordering meals from outside caterers and opened its own kitchen. Walking into the cafeteria, you
can find that the workspace is spotless, clean, spacious, and bright. All kinds of kitchen utensils, cooking tools, stoves, and countertops are clean and refreshing. Seasonings like oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, and various Chinese spices are neatly organized. The center hired 10 chefs with extraordinary culinary skills who are good at cooking both Chinese and Western dishes. The chefs use their superb cooking skills to meticulously prepare daily meals for the elderly at our Center.
To provide the elders with delicious and healthy food, the chefs made great efforts to do research, purchase ingredients, and prepare meals. Usually, our breakfast includes milk, soy milk, white fungus, and lotus seed porridge, longan eight-treasure porridge, vegetarian buns, meat buns, red bean paste buns, bread, cakes, small flower rolls, as well as marinated eggs, peanuts, black fungus, and cucumbers. For lunch, the chefs use various ingredients such as chicken, duck, fish, prawns, sea cucumbers, bean products, fresh mushrooms, green vegetables, etc., to cook a variety of delicious dishes, and make sure to provide the elderly with two kinds of meat, at least one kind of vegetable, and a variety of soup every day.
In addition to the daily breakfast and lunch, the center also provides snacks, yogurt, and seasonal fruits for us every day. For seniors who have special dietary requirements due to physical reasons, the chefs specially prepare suitable meals to meet the different dietary needs of each senior. The chefs have been working hard every day to make sure seniors stay healthy. Every dish is full of joy and love from the chefs in our center.
I'm writing this short article to express my gratitude and appreciation for CCACC Adult Day Healthcare Center for making us seniors live more happily!
